October 10 - Weinstein Elvis Biopic Series Cancelled

It was back in 2016 that a new TV biopic series was being planned by Weinstein Television to tell the life-story of Elvis. The programme was planned to be an 8 to 10-part television series and had the support of Priscilla and EPE.

Today Apple TV have terminated this projected Elvis biopic from The Weinstein Company - it was slated to debut on Apple Music TV - after today's news that multiple women have come forward with sexual harassment allegations against TWC founder Harvey Weinstein. He has been removed from the TWC company.

Weinstein TV had been granted music rights and access to Presley's estate, including his Graceland home, automobiles, clothes and jets. The series was based on the 1982 biography ‘Elvis’ by David Marsh, and was noted as "a dream come true for Harvey" previously behind such gems ‘The English Patient’ and ‘Cold Mountain’.

At the time Priscilla said “I’m a big fan of Harvey Weinstein’s films. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him on this show and tell the story of how Elvis changed the culture of music and initiated a revolution that changed the world.” TWC could still sell the series to another bidder.
